Our team to the 2007 national Academic WorldQuest competition placed 13th out of 48 teams from across the country!! The team consisted of Stephen Thompson from Savannah Christian and Sara Hofstein, Jackie Dean, and Jessie Garten from Savannah Country Day, with alternates Robert Daniel of Savannah Christian and Katherine Morrow from Savannah Country Day.

Academic WorldQuest is a Flagship Program of the World Affairs Councils of America (“WACA”) and is widely played at the adult and high school levels around the country. It is a team game testing competitors’ knowledge of international affairs, geography, history, and culture. The national competition for high school students was started in Washington, DC in March 2003. This year’s competition was held at the Reagan International Trade Center in Washington, DC on the morning of Saturday, March 24. It consisted of 100 multiple-choice questions, ten questions each in ten different categories, such as the Arab-Israeli conflict, African geography, and People in the News. Our team members prepared by reading to keep current on world affairs, country leaders, culture, religions and events; studying maps; and practicing one afternoon per week after school since early January.
